Kraków Night of Museums cancelled

Dear Visitors,

with regret we inform you that the KRAKÓW NIGHT OF MUSEUMS event, planned to take place on 15/16 May, 2020, has been cancelled. A mass gathering cannot take place in the planned form due to the current epidemic emergency. We still remember the International Museum Day of 18 May and we will celebrate it in a new form.

about

the cancellation of the Night of Museums in Kraków

In result of the current Covid-19 epidemic, the closure of all cultural institutions and further prohibitions and restrictions introduced by the Polish government, the KRAKÓW NIGHT OF MUSEUMS planned for 15/16 May is cancelled!

In face of the current situation when the entire world fights the epidemic, we take up the duty of securing the functionality of institutions and preserving museum collections as our common heritage.

Despite many restrictions, Kraków museums continue their mission. Each one of them uses available instruments and resources to maintain contact with the public via webpages and social media. Therefore, on an unprecedented scale museums still remain 'open' by making their collections available online, providing virtual tours in galleries and exhibitions closed for visitors, or creating special educational classes and readings. This significant activity of museums and other cultural institutions has already become a global phenomenon. Museums and their staff want to be close to the public on a daily basis and they manage to do it, proving that it is possible even 'in the time of cholera.’

Like everyone else, we are waiting for the moment to come when we will again be allowed to go outside, return to normal work, and open not just museum doors.
