Night of Museums 2013 in the Maius – programme

event-date: 17.05.2013

Night of Museums 17th/18th May 2013, 19:00 – 01:00, the Jagiellonian University Museum

The Night of Museums takes place the next Friday, the 17th May. We have prepared many attractions for you. Among the most interesting of them will be without doubt the exhibition 'Keepsakes from famous Polish women in the Jagiellonian University Museum's collection'. One of the presented objects will be... the cigar lit by Adam Mickiewicz inside a Vesuvius crater. This is only the beginning, and many other interesting objects will be presented too...

In the Professor Garden and the Huta Courtyard we will display the large-sized works of Karol Badyna, the renowned Cracow's sculptor. You will be able to enter the garden through the Long Hallway or the entrance on ul. Jagiellońska 17. As always, it will be possible to enter the Huta Courtyard using the św. Anny 10 entrance or the entrance from the Arcade Courtyard, specially open for this occasion.

At 21:00 in the Jagiellonian Hall, Irena Urbańska with the Klezmerzy ensemble will perform Jewish love songs.

The 150th jubilee of the January Uprising will be celebrated in the exhibition 'On 1683. The Jagiellonian University and the January Uprising'. As a part of celebration, at 20:00 in one of the rooms, arranged as a 19th century salon, a night with insurgent poetry will begin. Poems, like "That other world", will be read by Mrs. Marzena Figiel.

Again we would like invite you to visit the new interactive exhibition 'Everything... is numbers' (last entry at 23:30) and the standard exhibition from Libraria to Aula (last entry at 00:30). From Saturday, the Negotiolum museum shop will offer a commemorative coin (price: 1zł) allowing to visit all museums in Cracow which take part in the X edition of the Night of Museums. Additionally, all books and souvenirs will be sold with 10% discount.
