Telescope Room

This room houses various telescopes with the largest of them created in the Paris workshop of the extraordinary Polish astronomer Adam Prażmowski. Another object made by him is the heliostat (1877)–an instrument which enables tracking the movement of the Sun and locks its image in the same place.

Other instruments exhibited in this room were once used to measure length, mass, temperature, atmospheric pressure, etc. Above the cabinets hang contemporary professor portraits painted by distinguished Polish and foreign artists. The paintings present an excellent supplement to the museum’s painting collection.
