Closing event of “From Broadcasting Systems to University Radio. Alma Radio (1957-1993)” exhibition

We invite you to attend the closing event of “From Broadcasting Systems to University Radio. Alma Radio (1957-1993)” exhibition which is to take place on 31 May (Wednesday) 2017 at 16.00. The Jagiellonian Hall of Collegium Maius will host a meeting with the staff of the Jagiellonian University Archive who work on digitalisation of historical documents concerning history of the university radio.

Zapraszamy na finisaż wystawy „Od radiowęzłów do uniwersyteckiej rozgłośni. Alma Radio (1957-1993)”, które odbędzie się 31 maja (środa) 2017 roku o godz. 16:00. W Auli Jagiellońskiej Collegium Maius odbędzie się spotkanie z pracownikami Archiwum Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego prowadzącymi prace nad digitalizacją materiałów związanych z działalnością rozgłośni.

The highlight of the event will be a discussion on the importance of Alma Radio for the life of the student community with participation of special guests, including the creators of Alma Radio. Admission free.

The exhibition presents the history of the university’s radio station, commemorates persons who worked there and shows broadcasting content from the past. The historical background from 1957 to 1993 is shown from the point of view of broadcasting systems working in student dormitories and, from 1974, the JU Alma Radio Broadcasting Studio. The exhibition also includes a reconstruction of radio studio, archival recordings of Alma Radio broadcasts and quotes from radio journalists.

The aim of the exhibition is to commemorate the first university’s radio station and emphasise the role played by it as a social medium of that time. The radio station functioned as a constant element of students’ life, being an important factor in social and cultural life and a platform of communications between students.

The exhibition will be open from 22 April to 31 May.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.00 to 16.00, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.00 to 18.00, Saturdays from 10.00 to 14.00. Admission free.
