Karol Kurpiński here and now...

On the Saturday's afternoon on the 12th April, the concert of Karol Kurpiński's music took place  in the Collegium Maius Aula, the first such event in musical history of Cracow. Kurpiński was an extraordinary composer, conductor and teacher, for many years the director of the National Theatre in Warsaw, the co-author of the first Polish music periodical "Tygodnik Muzyczny", the author of "Warszawianka" and the popular opera „Zabobon, czyli Krakowiacy i Górale".

This event was accompanied with the promotion of the book "Twórczość Karola Kurpińskiego", authored by Rev. Prof. Dr hab. Tadeusz Przybylski, introduced to the listeners by its editor, Paweł Borowiec.

The concert's host was Mr. Andrzej Wisa, singer, director and announcer. The repertoire of Karol Kurpiński was performed by: the Jagiellonian University Academic Choir Camerata Jagellonica led by Janusz Wierzgacz, Anna Prabucka-Firleja and Krzysztof Sperski, Andrzej Wiza, Sonia Warzyńska, and Krzysztof Michalski with Anna Głowa-Łobodzińska. The young pianist Emilia Partyka also performed the g-moll polonaise written by Chopin.
