This year, 65 persons began the interdisciplinary veterinary studies, which are open since 2012 by the Jagiellonian University and the University of Agriculture in Cracow. Graduates will receive diplomas of veterinary doctors and professional licences. The ceremony of inauguration took place on 3th October 2014 in the Collegium Maius Aula, hosted by Prof. Andrzej Mania, the JU didactical vice-rector.

The idea of veterinary studies came from the two former rectors of the Jagiellonian University and the University of Agriculture – Prof. Karol Musioł and Prof. Janusz Żmija. The duration of study is eleven semesters. After that, all graduates will receive diplomas from both universities and professionan licenses. This will allow them to open private medical practice or to be employed in medical centers and clinics, Veterinary Inspection Service, diagnostic laboratories and research institutions.
