The auction house Dorotheum has recently put the portrait of Prof. Karol Gilewski (1832 – 1871) by Jan Matejko to auction. The painting has been owned by a private person for many years and will become available for sale on the 22^th October. This portrait would perfectly match the Museum's collection of professor portraits, but its opening price remains beyond our range.
