Visit of Pope John Paul II in the Jagiellonian University Museum

On 8 June 1997, Pope John Paul II visited Collegium Maius where he met University professors and students. The event was hosted by Prorector Franciszek Ziejka who reminded in a speech of the contribution to the Jagiellonian University made by Queen Hedwig. Due to the canonisation Mass for the queen which was to be held in on the same day in the Błonia Park, a portrait of Hedwig was put on display in the museum courtyard
