The Unknown Beksiński

‘The Unknown Beksiński' is the name of the new extraordinary exhibition which features the lesser known works by the outstanding Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński (1929-2005). Among ca. 100 exhibits are the innovative photographs from the 1955-1960 period, the digital collages from 1996-2000 and the unique works of visual art digitally re-mastered by the artist in 2000-2004.

The lack of original paintings will be compensated by a fascinating trip into some of the most renowned works of Beksiński. Through innovative technology, straight from the artist's own dreams, the visitors will be able to explore a virtual installation based on the atmosphere and locations from Beksiński's paintings. During a brief showing, characters are presented as 3D animated landscapes filled with the elements from the artist's works. The deserted and somewhat horrifying world seems to live its own life and gradually becomes more conscious about the presence of visitors, reacting to it in its own distinct way.

An integral part of the exhibition is a multimedia biographical presentation about the life and work of Beksiński, held by Ewa Barycka,  which includes unique photographs as well as previously unpublished interviews and documentary films. The presentation is to take place on 18-20th March at 6 pm in the Collegium Witkowski Aula, free entry.

The exhibition's opening event is to take place on the 18th March at 4 pm in the Jagiellonian University Museum. The exhibition will be open from 18th to 23rd March 2016 daily from 10 am to 6 pm, free entry.

Organisers: JU Student Council, Jagiellonian University Museum Collegium Maius, Beksiński Foundation, Museum of History in Sanok.

WE INFORM YOU THAT THERE ARE NO MORE PLACES AVAILABLE FOR THE VIRTUAL PRESENTATION.
