Final ceremony of the Zaczek contest

On the 7th April, the Collegium Maius Aula became the place of the final ceremony of the ‘Żaczek" contest, which fifth edition was organised by the Akademia Żakowska educational initiative and the Szersze Horyzonty Association in cooperation with the Jagiellonian University and the Cracow Voivodship Public Library.

‘Żaczek Krakowski' is a competition aimed at second-grade elementary students who initially learn about places, facts and legends related to the oldest Polish university – the Jagiellonian University, and then prepare contest works, the Treasure Books of Knowledge, which present the knowledge collected during excursions and workshops.

After a heated debate, the jury selected from the 129 works the finest books with the most impressive content and aesthetic value. The winning teams received their awards from the Museum Director, Prof. Krzysztof Stopka, after the official opening of the ceremony. The highest praise went to the book made by the IIa grade students from the Elementary School no. 7 in Cracow.

We  congratulate the winners and all participants! The works will be put on public display in the exhibition organised by the Cracow Voivodship Public Library at ul. Rajska 1 Street, located in the library's Children Department, from 7th to 30th April.
