Krakow Museums Open Doors Day

On Sunday, the 22nd November from 10 am to 16 pm, this year's edition of the Krakow Museums Open Doors Day will take place. The current motto of the event is: ‘Curiosity – the first step into… the museum. We hope that the special programme will wake the interest in the activity of our museum.

  • The beginning of the Krakow Museums Open Doors Day with the playing clock in the courtyard, 10 am.
  • ‘Cracow's artists for the Jagiellonian University. Works of visual art donated in 2013-2015'. At 11 am, the curator's tour of the exhibition with Prof. Adam Wsiołkowski (exhibition rooms on the ground floor). The first five persons to arrive at 11 will receive the exhibition catalogue from the custodian.
  • A chest decorated with beads from the turn of 16th/17th centuries, a cattle-bone box made in the Florentian and Venetian Embriarchi workshops, an urn imitating a Medici vase made for the Tzar Alexander I – presentation of the objects being in process of restoration. At 12 am a meeting with conservator-restorers who will tell about the objects and their conservation (in Libraria).
  • ‘In Search of Native American Past' – an exhibition in the Collegium Maius cellars. At 1 pm the lecture held by Dr Radosław Palonka ‘Archeologists from the Jagiellonian University and thei research of Native American past in the Southwest of USA' (‘U Kazimierza' Room).
  • The student quarter-hour with arts and science – workshops for parents and their children in the Aula, at 1 pm, 2 pm, 3pm.
  • The Irresistible Project – a presentation of interactive exhibits made by school students in the Aula, at 10 am, 11 am.
  • ‘Everything is… numbers' – the interactive exhibition.
  • Main exhibition tour from the Library to the Aula.
  • Additionally, we invite you to watch the first-night presentation of the new videoclip of Katy Carr named ‘Polonia' which promotes the recently released album of the artist, recorded in Collegium Maius (in the cinema room).
