Night of Museums 2013 in Collegium Maius

The Night of Museums... this year, we were not disappointed neither by the weather nor by visitors exploring every corner of Collegium Maius. At 19:00 the first group entered the Libraria, accompanied by the playing clock. Special attention was drawn to the exhibition 'Keepsakes of famous Polish people in the collection of Jagiellonian University Museum'. Visitors had the chance to behold cigars of Adam Mickiewicz and Antoni Edward Odyniec, as well as a pen once used by Stanisław Wyspiański.

At the same time in the Professor Garden, Prof. Karol Badyna told about history of his sculpture works. His sculptures, together with other objects located in the Huta Courtyard, will be available for visitors until 25th October 2013.

The 15th anniversary of the January Uprising will be celebrated in the exhibition 'On 1683. The Jagiellonian University and the January Uprising'. At 20:00 in one of the exhibition rooms, arranged as a 19th century salon, began a night with the Uprising-era poetry. All poems, among them 'The other world', were recited by Mrs. Marzena Figiel.

Some time later, crowds of grateful listeners arrived at the Aula to attend the concert performed by Irena Urbańska and the Klezmer ensemble. The Jewish love songs made it difficult to remain on spot, but the audience stil succumbed to the solemn atmosphere of the Jagiellonian Hall. It is enough to say that every performance was rewarded with loud applause...

Many visitors stormed the interactive exhibition 'Everything... is numbers', for a short while impersonating Pythagoras. They used 35 interactive models, enabling to carry out 65 experiments.

The total number of visitors in the Jagiellonian University Museum was estimated to 4000 persons.
