Corpus Studiosorum Universitatis Iagellonicae

event-date: 25.02.2016
Place: Kraków

On Thursday the 25th February at 17:00, the Collegium Maius Libraria became the place of the promotional event of the publication ‘Corpus Studiosorum Universitatis Iagellonicae 1850/51-1917/18' authored by Mieczysław Barcik, Adam Cieślak, Paweł Gaszyński, Danuta Grodowska-Kulińska, Urszula Perkowska and Przemysław M. Żukowski, and edited by Prof. Krzysztof Stopka. The final volume of the publication, ‘Corpus Studiosorum Universitatis Iagellonicae 1850/51-1917/18', features the biographical entries about the students of the Jagiellonian University, including the descriptions of their academic education. The results of the work accomplished by a team of employees of the Jagiellonian University Archive are impressive. During the 16 years of work they managed to prepare 28.374 biographical entries which were released as an eight-volume edition. The first volume, labelled A-D and edited by Jerzy Michalewicz, was published in 1999. The following volumes E-J, K-Ł, M-N, O-Q, R, S-Ś, edited by Prof. Krzysztof Stopka, in 2006-2015.

In the future, further biographical entries will be available online on the JU Archive's webpage, while the plans include historical appendices from the Archive collection (photos, copies of PhD diplomas). The works on ‘Corpus Studiosorum' were initially financed only by the Archive's own means. From 2005 to 2010 the researchers received from the research project N N108 3727 33 granted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. From 2011 the research has again been financed by the Archive's own budget.
