Conference: ‘Academic education of social and professional groups in the 15-18th century Central Europe'

On the 19-20th November 2015, JU Collegium Maius was the place of the international scientific conference: ‘Academic education of social and professional groups in the 15-18th century Central Europe. Universitätsstudium und Gesellschaft in Mitteleuropa vom 15. bis zum 18. Jahrhundert.' The conference was organised by the Jagiellonian University Archive and the Jagiellonian University Museum. The event was held under the patronage of the President of Cracow Prof. Jacek Majchrowski and the Rector of the Jagiellonian University HM Prof. Wojciech Nowak.

During the conference, the participant held numerous lectures, mainly on such subjects as: summary of research projects and work concerning the Central European academic history; studies on the position, role, and careers made by persons with academic education in the historical societies of Central Europe based on selected social and professional groups; prosographical, electronic, academic databases as a modern research tool; presentations of currently active projects, including the project realised by the JU Faculty of History in cooperation with the AGH Chair of Telecommunication named ‘Corpus academicum Cracoviense. Electronic Database of Students and Professors of the Cracow University in the Old Polish period 1364-1780', financed by the National Programme for the Development of Humanities.

The conference was a next step in the academic cooperation between the Jagiellonian University Archive, the Friedrich-Schiller Universität, and the Univerzita Karlova in Prague.
